OBJECTIVE: To establish myself as an artist who helps expand the American voice by sharing my life's learnings as a person of African descent, Woman, and Mother. These learnings include the joys and hardships of being raised by a child of a slave, growing up in an inner-city housing project, and attending Britain's Oxford University, Exeter college.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My art is a visual representation of journal entries. It reflects:

• the pain of watching aging relatives transition into death
• the wonder of motherhood
• the awe of watching my body work as a machine: creating and sustaining life
• the joy of age that allows me to say I am beautiful
  --simply because I Am

ART AWARDS & HONORS:

• Graphic Artist for New Child Productions (designed artwork for t-shirts, posters, and fliers for the plays: "Spider Stories: An Urban Folk Tale" and "Quilts: Connecting Lives, Connecting Generations")
• Featured Illustrator for the 2007 Winter Newsletter of the New Mexico Chapter of the Society of Childrens' Book Writers and Illustrators.
• President of Digital Fine Arts Society of New Mexico 2005, 2006.
• Wrote an art column for PhotoJournal Southwest in 2006.
• Assisted the Albuquerque Arts Alliance in developing workshops to educate artists on using digital technologies.
• Participated in the invitational art show: "The Making of Dust" at Weilworks gallery. The show included 21-international artists.
• Curated two art and poetry shows with pieces by New Mexico children waiting to be adopted.
